Say Hello to Nelson – A Big Heart in Need of a Loving Home
Everyone give a warm woof to Nelson – our handsome 10-month-old brindle Bully cross with a love for toys, treats, and human company!
Nelson is a sweet, affectionate boy who lives for a good game of fetch. Drop a toy at your feet, and he’ll wait eagerly for the next throw, tail wagging and eyes full of hope. His love for food and toys makes him a dream to train – he’s already picked up lots of basic commands and is doing really well with his loose lead walking.
As a younger pup, Nelson spent time in a loving foster home where he thrived and learned what it meant to be part of a family. Sadly, circumstances changed and Nelson had to return to kennels – something he’s finding incredibly hard. He misses constant human companionship, and the stress of kennel life can cause him to become overly excited, sometimes jumping up or mouthing in his eagerness to connect. Our team is helping him develop calmer ways to greet people and he’s making steady progress.
Nelson and his littermates came into our care after a rough start in life, missing the key early socialisation period that every young pup needs. As a result, he can be unsure in new situations or environments. He’ll need a patient, reassuring owner who can guide him gently through new experiences and help him continue to build confidence.
Because of his strong bond with people and sensitivity to change, Nelson is looking for a home where he won’t be left alone for long. A calm environment with children aged 16+ would suit him best. While Nelson enjoys meeting other dogs and can be playful, he’s still learning how to interact appropriately, and can be a bit full-on. We feel he’d do best as the only pet in the home, where he can have space to decompress and settle. That said, he’d love to have some doggy friends to join on walks!
Nelson is bursting with love and potential – all he needs is the right person to show him he’s home for good.
