Meet Smokey, a truly distinguished young gentleman looking for a calm, understanding home to call his own.
Smokey is a 1-year-old domestic shorthair who has been thriving in a foster home, where he’s had the time and space to let his true personality shine. When he first arrived, he was a worried boy and very vocal about wanting his space respected. With patience and a home environment around him, Smokey has shown that he absolutely does want to be someone’s beloved pet - he simply prefers affection on his own terms.
Sensitive and thoughtful, Smokey enjoys a peaceful environment. When approached calmly, he loves gentle strokes and will even wriggle around to guide your hand to his favourite spot (usually his belly!). When he’s in the mood for attention, he’ll charm you by weaving in and out of your legs and quietly asking for fuss.
Smokey gains great comfort from other cats and would truly benefit from having a confident resident cat in his new home to help him settle and feel secure. He adores feline company, so this is a must for him. In his previous environment, Smokey appears to have mostly experienced men and tends to relax more quickly around them. That said, once he feels safe and settled, he bonds just as well regardless.
Smokey’s ideal home would be calm and respectful of his boundaries. He’s not a cat who wants constant play or attention, and he will simply remove himself if he needs space. Children should be aged 12+, and there must be at least one friendly resident cat. Smokey would prefer a dog-free home.
With patience, understanding, and a feline friend by his side, Smokey will make a wonderfully loyal and affectionate companion.
