Volunteering opportunities within the RSPCA Southport, Ormskirk & District Branch
All volunteer positions are subject to an informal interview and selection process, as we have a limited number of spots available to join our already dedicated team of volunteers.
To ensure consistency and team support, volunteers must be able to commit weekly on a designated day and time that the role requires.

Opportunities within the animal centre
Cattery Assistant- Thursday/ Saturday/ Sunday positions available (Start 8:30am-2hours minimum required)
What is the role?
To support the Animal Care Assistants (ACAs) working on the cattery and assist with the care of cats currently resident on site, this may include the following volunteer activities:
-
To help with the preparation and distribution of food & water to resident animals
-
To Clean, disinfect and maintain to a standard of cleanliness cat pods in the cattery as required
-
To attend to the exercise and coat care/grooming needs of the cats
-
To following current administrative health and safety procedures in place at the centre and ensuring that they are observed in all aspects of work
-
To liaise with colleagues in the centre
-
To handle and restrain animals
-
To assist staff with the completion of daily animal observations records

Please note we only have set shifts available for this role so please check you are able to commit to at least one of these times before applying- Thursday/Saturday or Sundays shifts available, 8:30am start. (Full or half day options)
Foster Co-Ordinator Assistant
What is the role?
To support the Animal Foster Coordinator (AFC) in a range of administrative tasks, these may include the following volunteer activities:

To identify the need and help organise routine treatments and health checks for animals in foster care (e.g. vaccinations, preventative flea & worm treatment)
-
To assist in the recording of information supplied by foster carers about an animal’s behaviour and welfare whilst in the foster home
-
To help gather information for animal rehoming profiles
-
To support the processing of foster enquiries and the completion and storage of “onboarding” paperwork for new foster carers
-
To maintain the records of volunteer foster carers ensuring these are kept up-to-date
-
To support the foster care team by ensuring individual foster carers have everything they need including food, medication, basic care supplies and telephone support
-
To ensure that confidentiality is maintained for staff, foster carers and animals in Branch care
