Meet Maple. A Gentle Soul Looking for Her Home
Maple is a beautiful 4-year-old Collie who is searching for a patient and understanding home where she can continue to build her confidence at her own pace.
Since arriving in our care, Maple has spent a lot of her time in a foster home, and has made encouraging progress. She is now comfortable spending time in the home and enjoys pottering around the garden. She can go out for walks and travel by car, although she currently needs help being lifted in. Like many nervous dogs, if she becomes worried or something startles her, she may stop and "plant" herself until she feels safe enough to continue.
Maple is a sensitive girl who takes time to trust, but once she knows you, she is incredibly affectionate and rewarding to be around. Her foster carers describe her as a lovely companion who is a pleasure to have in the home. They have also been taking her to a local secure field, where she has recently begun to explore more confidently and show enjoyment in her surroundings - a wonderful milestone for this sweet girl.
As a noise-sensitive dog, Maple can be startled by sudden loud sounds and will need adopters who understand that confidence-building is an ongoing journey. She is looking for people who can offer reassurance, consistency, and the patience to let her progress at her own speed.
Maple also has mild arthritic changes in her hips and back legs. Her new family will need to monitor this carefully, as arthritis is a progressive condition and it is likely that she will require long-term pain management in the future.
We feel Maple would thrive in a home with people who are familiar with the Collie breed and its sensitive nature. Experience with nervous dogs would be beneficial, although the most important quality is a willingness to understand and support her needs.
While Maple can be introduced to other dogs, we believe her ideal home would be one where she can be the only dog and enjoy all the attention for herself. She has not been cat tested, so a cat-free home is preferred.
We think she could live with calm, sensible children aged 16 years and over.
Maple is not a dog looking for a busy lifestyle or endless adventures. She is looking for someone who will stand by her side, celebrate the small victories, and give her the security she needs to continue blossoming. In return, you'll gain a loyal, affectionate companion whose trust is truly earned - and all the more special because of it.
Please note, due to the volume of applications we receive, we are only able to respond to those that are successful – thank you for understanding.
